As part of the ETTA’s drive to increase the number of qualified umpires, the recently re-launched Junior Umpire Awards (JUA) and Local Umpire Qualification (LU) test papers are now available to download from the ETTA Website: http://www.englishtabletennis.org.uk/./dyncat.cfm?catid=8581

Junior Umpire Awards

The Junior Umpire Awards are aimed at any young person who would like to improve their table tennis knowledge and practical umpiring skills.

The awards may be assessed by any teacher, sports leader, coach or adult who has an understanding of the laws of table tennis. A Junior Umpire Awards Information Pack, which includes assessor notes, test and answer papers and certificate order forms, is available from the ETTA Teaching an Training Department via e-mail: teachandtrain@englishtabletennis.org.uk or post. Copies of the Information pack will also be posted to all Premier Clubs, Leagues, County Umpires Secretaries and Regional Development Officers shortly.

The JUA has been developed by the ETTA Teaching & Training Department, National Umpires and Referee Committee and Development Department.

Local Umpire Qualification

The Local Umpire qualification, the next step on the umpiring ladder, is a basic umpire test for those whose interest is initially in umpiring only at local level. It requires a sound knowledge of the Laws and basic scoring procedures.
