BRISTOL & DISTRICT TABLE TENNIS SEASON 2009-2010

Results Week 08
Results received up to 21st November

 

I draw your attention to Rules 24 and 25 on page 11 of the handbook and to the footnote on that page. ALL postponements must be submitted to Andy Boucher.

Premier Division
Failand A opened a fourteen set gap at the head of the division with the whitewash of Adders and a narrow win over Panthers. Knowle A moved into second place with a big win over Academy. Knowle B, thanks to three from Patrick Macfarlane, held on to fourth place with a close win against Hercules. Bristol A were held to a draw by Nomads but defeated Adders and moved up a place to fifth
.
Division 1
Almonds B were held by Failand C but hold top spot. Winterbourne A had big wins over two player Almonds C and Rattlers but moved into second place despite being narrowly beaten by third placed KCC A who had a big win over Bristol C. Failand C had a comfortable win against Ocelots and with matches in hand should move higher than their current seventh place.

Division 2
A big win over Warriors and a close one over third placed Portishead A moved Raiders to top of the division but Headlines who had a similar win over Portishead A and a big win over two player Portishead B are in second place with a superior set average. A draw with fourth placed Olympus kept Portishead A in a fairly comfortable third place.
Almonds D lost to Westbury B and with only two players narrowly went down to Knowle C who improved their position with a win over Bristol E. At the lower end of the division Gladiators defeated two player West bury B.

Division 3
Rob Kendall continued undefeated as Saracens heavily defeated Creams to open a sixteen set gap at the top of the division. KCC B were held to a draw by Almonds G but had an early night against one player Almonds E and moved into third spot.
Bobcats jumped a few placed with their whitewash of Flickers who are still looking for their first win. Pumas defeated Fromeside B and with matches in hand should move up from their mid-table position.

Division 4
Two close wins for Longwell over Failand E and Pegasus took them into a one set lead at the top of the table, Martin LeButt being undefeated. Almonds Y dropped to second place as a result of a defeat at the hands of Failand E. Knowle D closed to within a set by defeating struggling Jaguars.
Pythons just got the better of Vikings thanks to three from Graham Budd and reman one place above them. Almonds F defeated Pegasus and look sure to rise from their seventh position. Congresbury had a comfortable win against Jaguars to move above them out of the bottom two positions.

Division 5
Failand D held top spot with the defeat of Tigers but narrowly lost to second placed Spartans who were held to a draw by third placed Articles. John Chivers did well to take Graham Brown in four but Articles managed a narrow victory thanks to three from Peter Martin. Portishead E did well to defeat full strength Merlins, they were well served by three from division eight reserve Mike Harris.
Portishead D are comfortably in the top half of the division with their defeat of struggling Westbury C. Keith Ambrose took an excellent three for Tigers as they defeated Avspol in a very close match. Sympathy goes to Rick Bradford who went to five in all three singles but had nothing to show for it. Boost got the better of Westbury C to remain mid-table.

Division 6
Sam Lee took all three for Tornadoes in their defeat of Portishead F and veteran, Brian Ellison, continued his good season with a maximum in their draw with Knowle F and they move joint top with Knowle G who defeated Cheetahs and Bristol F.Turners, the only hundred percent team in the division defeated a strong Knowle F team to move into third place with matches in hand.
Leopards narrowly lost to Portishead F but had a big win against Mints who were again without Terry Sloper. Mints also lost to the strong Knowle F team and languish at the bottom of the division. Three from Peter Ruderham only gained Trojans a draw with Bristol F who are also in the danger zone. Sports gained a valuable close win over Trojans butremain second from bottom.

Division 7
Two close wins over KCC D and  Columns took Editors to the top spotFromesdie D went down to Rippers but had a big win over ICI to move into second place two sets clear of KCC C who had a big win over Kestrels. Fourth placed  ICI narrowly lost to Vipers who also had a close win over KCC D to move into sixth place.
Despite three from Steve Webb, Britannias narrowly went down to Staplers and suffered an even heavier to Columns.

Division 8
Leaders,Lynxes, had a big win over Westbury E but lost their hundred percent record to Eagles who moved into fifth place. A draw with Burners and a comfortable win over KCC E took Knowle H into second place. Two wins against Typhoons and KCC E moved Bristol g into third place
